Dr. Chang

Joseph Mekhail, MD

Dr. Mekhail is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with a specialization in Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive surgery. He has a special interest in the management of keratoconus, dry eye, and refractive cataract surgery.

He completed his ophthalmology residency training at the Georgetown University / Washington Hospital Center department of Ophthalmology, followed by further subspecialty training in cornea and cornea transplant surgery, ocular surface surgery, and refractive surgery at The University of California, Irvine. During his training, he was honored with the Ocular Innovation Award for his research work, as well as a research grant from The Prevention of Blindness Society. He was also honored with the String of Pearls award for his dedication to teaching medical students.

Dr. Mekhail is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and completed his undergraduate at Georgetown University where he graduated cum laude with a major in Biology and Global Health, and a minor in Studio Art. He enjoys spending time with his fiancée and dog, painting, and playing piano.
